Founded by the late Harry Chapin
Long Island Cares Inc. ® brings together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry and food insecure on Long Island and, to the best of our ability, provides for the humanitarian needs of our community. Our goals are to improve food security for families, sponsor programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency, and educate the general public about the causes and consequences of hunger on Long Island. Our vision is “A Hunger Free Long Island”.

Our Board of Directors is comprised of experts and leaders from many different industries, but are all united by Long Island Cares’ mission to end food insecurity on Long Island. The programs, services, and initiatives we provide to thousands of Long Islanders would not be possible without them.

Long Island Cares is proud of its reputation as a charitable organization and maintains attention to fiscal responsibility. Approximately 91% of each donated dollar goes towards our programs to fulfill our mission.
