Hard times can happen to anyone and just because you or your family find yourselves struggling does not mean that you should be forced to give up your pet in the process. This is why Long Island Cares offers Baxter’s Pet Pantry to help families with not only pet food, but also toys, clothes, and other supplies needed to take care of a pet. This program is run in partnership with the Animal Rescue Fund which enables Long Island Cares to distribute these supplies through our network.
Long Island Cares also offers a free basket of supplies to those who serve in the armed services when they adopt an adult dog from a local animal shelter. It’s our way of saying thank you for all that you do in defending our nation and keeping an animal safe.
We also offer support to local animal shelters. We provide pet food, supplies, and more via donations to Long Island’s may pet shelters and offer delivery directly to these shelters if need be. To get more info about this program or to get a tour of our warehouse, please contact Jessica Rosati, Ph.D., Chief Programs Officer at: 631.582.3663 Ext 109 or email: [email protected]
If you’re looking for supplies for your pet, please make an appointment or contact one of our First Stop Pantry locations. Please note, Baxter’s Pet Pantry is only available to Suffolk and Nassau County residents.
If you’re a Veteran, military personnel, or a family of a deployed soldier and adopt an adult dog from a local animal shelter, Long Island Cares will provide you with a special free gift basket of pet food and supplies to thank you for adopting your new “forever friend.”
If you’re a shelter, Long Island Cares can provide you with ongoing donations of pet food and supplies such as new pet beds, kennels, scratching posts and more. We can also arrange to have deliveries made directly to your location. To schedule a tour of our warehouse and distribution center in Hauppauge or to discuss your interest with our staff please contact Jessica Rosati, Ph.D., Chief Programs Officer at: 631.582.3663 Ext 109 or email: [email protected]
