Job Summary:

  • The Development Associate contributes to the execution of external donor communication for the Development department and assists with coordination of data management. Responsibilities include updating database, pulling mailing lists, and meeting department reporting needs to ensure the right constituents receive engagement and stewardship materials for effective relationship building. All Development staff are expected to assist with the execution of the annual development plan to support meeting the annual organizational budget.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains Constituent Relationship Management databases and software and updates all relevant donor information.
  • Assist with processing food drive donations, generate, and track receipts and acknowledgement letters.
  • Assist with processing one-time retail donor and corporate donor donations, generate and track tax receipts and acknowledgement letters.
  • Assists volunteers (on-site or virtually) to navigate the volunteer software (Volunteer Matrix) to provide a better customer experience and to resolve outstanding issues.
  • Assign volunteers to volunteer shifts in the software as requested by third parties or by Long Island Cares staff in an accurate and expeditious manner.
  • Works across multiple departments to gather information to ensure LIC donor stewardship standards are met.
  • Responds to inquiries and maintains relationships with donors regarding gifts and acknowledgements.
  • Assists with special and third-party events as assigned.
  • Attends events and meetings on behalf of LIC as assigned.
  • Generates reports on data as necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Highly motivated self-starter

 Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
