LONG ISLAND CARES TEMPORARY PAID POSITION AVAILABLE!

September 1st – October 31st (Approximately 12 hours/week at $15/hour)

MORE (MOBILE OUTREACH RESOURCE ENTERPRISE) VAN, MOBILE SCHOOL PANTRY, AND MOBILE BREAKFAST TRUCK SUPPORT

This program goes out regularly during the month, in a mobile vehicle we provide. Usually 3 days a week or more, in both Nassau and Suffolk County. We provide a minimum of 3-day emergency food bags. Bags are pre-made, using a guideline provided by our staff nutritionists. You will come to our warehouse in Hauppauge, load the vehicle, drive to the scheduled locations, distribute food and take demographic information for those served, then return vehicle to Hauppauge. You will then report the information to our program manager after each distribution. Each distribution lasts approximately 1 hour, so total time worked for each site will be a maximum of 3 hours.

Breakfast Truck (8:00am-12:00pm): 9/8, 9/14, 9/21, 9/22, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19, 10/26, 10/27

Must be 18 or older with a valid driver’s license and be familiar with our programs and services.
Requires a DMV/background check.

Agency Relations Trade Mitigation Associate (Full-Time Position)
Long Island Cares, Inc. is currently recruiting for a full-time Agency Relations Trade Mitigation Associate as part of our Agency Relations Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will serve as a liaison between The Harry Chapin Food Bank and our expanding network of community-based member agencies to receive, process and post USDA TEFAP Trade Mitigation orders to Navision Ceres System database.   The Agency Relations Trade Mitigation Associate will provide technical assistance to member agencies regarding the availability of TEFAP Trade Mitigation products (USDA commodities) to enhance the nutritional value of member orders as part of our mission to feed the hungry on Long Island.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess excellent customer services skills, good typing ability and demonstrated proficiency in data entry (MS Word; Excel).   They shall possess good organizational and time management skills, excellent communication skills, and be detail oriented.  Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish is also preferred.

Agency Relations Associate (Part -Time Position)
Long Island Cares, Inc. is currently recruiting for a part-time Agency Relations Associate as part of our Agency Relations Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position will serve as a liaison between The Harry Chapin Food Bank and our expanding network of community-based member agencies to receive, process and post agency orders to Navision Ceres System database.   The Agency Relations Associate will provide technical assistance to member agencies regarding the availability of fresh produce; special donated items and TEFAP product (USDA commodities) to enhance the nutritional value of member orders as part of our mission to feed the hungry on Long Island.  Duties also include advising agencies of all new product and low-quantity product available in our inventory.

The successful candidate will possess excellent customer services skills, good typing ability and demonstrated proficiency in data entry (MS Word; Excel).   They shall possess good organizational and time management skills, excellent communication skills, and be detail oriented.  Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish is also preferred.

DIGITAL CONTENT AND SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST (Full-Time Position)

Long Island Cares, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Digital Content and Social Media Specialist for the regional food bank and humanitarian organization founded by singer/songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin in 1980.  Long Island Cares supports 380 contract member agencies, operates in four locations on Long Island, and employs a staff of 49.  The Digital Content and Social Media Specialist is a member of the Development Team and is responsible for content development and management of all digital applications including the website and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).  The DCSMS will be responsible for shooting and editing content using Smartphone or DSLR, or similar cameras; creating Constant Contact email marketing campaigns. This person will support broader communications team and staff as needed.  The ideal candidate will be a creative storyteller to help tell the stories that relay our mission and our work.

REQUIREMENTS

Hands-on, energetic and detail-oriented team player with excellent analytical, communication, and technology skills.  A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing communications and/or 2+ years of experience in communications is preferred.   Familiarity with web content management programs and all social networking channels is required.  This full-time position requires some evening and weekend hours, and local travel.

COORDINATOR FOR PUBLIC, MEDIA AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS (Part Time/Full Time)

Long Island Cares, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Coordinator for Public, Media and Community Relations for the regional food bank and humanitarian organization founded by singer/songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin in 1980.  Long Island Cares supports 380 contract member agencies, operates in four locations on Long Island, and employs a staff of 49.  This position includes maintaining ongoing and proactive relations with all areas of the media, writing press releases, coordinating press conferences, designing informational materials related to Long Island Cares’ programs and services, maintaining a database of all media contacts, developing long-range public relations plans, and collaborating with social media staff.

REQUIREMENTS

Hands-on, energetic and detail-oriented team player with excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills.  A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, public relations, communications and/or 5+ years of experience in communications and public relations is preferred.   Familiarity with media sources and coordinating public relations initiatives is required.  This full-time position requires some evening and weekend hours, and local travel.
