CHIEF DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Long Island Cares, Inc. is currently recruiting for the position of Chief Development & Communications Officer for the regional food bank and humanitarian organization founded by singer/songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin in 1980. Long Island Cares supports 380 contract member agencies, operates in four locations on Long Island, and employs a staff of 49. The CDO is a member of the organizations’ administrative team and is responsible for the management, planning, implementation and daily operations of our diverse fundraising and communications programs and activities. Among the areas the CDO oversees are Direct Mail Campaigns, Special Events, Annual Appeals, Grant Writing, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Digital/Social Media, Corporate Social Responsibility, Coordinate Press Opportunities, and Public Information. The CDO supervises a staff of four full-time and part-time staff.
Hands-on, energetic and detail-oriented leader with a proven record of accomplishments in fundraising and development, excellent analytical, communication, supervision, technology and writing skills. Familiar with private, corporate and government grant opportunities. Must have a minimum of ten years related experience in fundraising and administration preferably within the non-profit corporate sector. CFRE credential and advanced degree is required. This full-time position requires some evening and weekend hours, travelling, and on-call availability.
