Long Island Cares
Long Island Cares advocates for hunger relief and food security by protecting programs like SNAP and Medicaid, fighting rising food costs, and promoting long-term policy change. Through the Chapin Center for Public Policy, we mobilize communities, influence legislation, and raise awareness of the root causes of hunger across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Together, we’re creating a stronger, more food-secure future for all.
Long Island Cares supports children across Nassau and Suffolk Counties with food programs and youth engagement initiatives that fight childhood hunger. From mobile school pantries and after-school meals to weekend food packs and our SHAC leadership program, we ensure kids have access to nutrition and service opportunities. Together, we’re empowering the next generation to grow, learn, and give back.
Long Island Cares' Outreach Programs provide food assistance and essential support directly to communities across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Services include mobile food pantries, disaster relief, homeless outreach, and homebound deliveries. These programs reduce barriers to access and help combat food insecurity with compassion and flexibility.
