September 17 | Isabelle Panza
Hunger can feel invisible until it touches someone we know. It might be a child sitting in class trying to focus without breakfast, or a senior quietly skipping meals to pay for medication. It might be a family who always managed to get by, now facing impossible choices as the cost of living keeps rising.
At Long Island Cares, we meet these neighbors every day. We hear their worries, but we also see their courage. Hunger Action Month is a reminder that none of us are alone in this. When a community comes together, there is strength, there is relief, and there is hope.
This September, you have the chance to make an even greater difference. Our Board of Directors has pledged to match every gift up to $150,000. That means your kindness will be felt twice as strongly by the families who are counting on us.
Every act of generosity carries a ripple. Right now, those ripples can double.
This Hunger Action Month, let’s not just raise awareness. Let’s raise each other up. Together, we can make sure that Long Island is a place where no one has to face hunger alone.
