Guru Krupa Foundation Helps Fuel the Day for
Long Island Families

April 29| Isabelle Panza

Thanks to a generous $25,000 grant from the Guru Krupa Foundation, Long Island Cares is bringing more breakfast directly to children and families facing food insecurity across Nassau and Suffolk counties.

This funding supports our Breakfast Mobile Food Truck, a program that serves nutritious morning meals in communities where food insecurity is a daily challenge. The truck primarily reaches children and families during times when free school meals aren’t available—such as weekends, holidays, and summer breaks—and when access to local food pantries may be limited.

Each morning, the truck is stocked with ready-to-eat options like sandwiches, cereal, fruit, and juice. We stop at libraries, churches, resource centers, and other accessible locations, ensuring that families start their day with the nourishment they need.

The Guru Krupa Foundation’s support helps us reach even more children who might otherwise begin their day hungry. By meeting families where they are, this program provides more than food—it offers stability, comfort, and connection.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the Guru Krupa Foundation for supporting our work,” said John Probert, Grants Specialist. “Their generosity allows us to fill a critical gap and ensure that no child starts their day without a meal.”
