Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank has been on a mission to feed Long Islanders facing food insecurity and address its root causes since our founding by the late Harry Chapin in 1980.

Holiday Food & Fund Drive
Our Gather & Give Holiday Food Drive is a Long Island Cares holiday giving campaign that brings the community together to make the holiday season brighter for Long Island neighbors in need. There are several ways to get involved, whether you have time to volunteer, want to provide a meal, or would like to organize a collection in your community.
As the season shifts and we head toward the holidays, our community’s needs grow. The featured Holiday Shopping List reflects the most‑requested items for this time of year.
Ways to Contribute
Volunteer to Pack Holiday Meals
Help prepare holiday meals and essential items for distribution to Long Island neighbors in need. Volunteers will assist with packing holiday meal boxes so they can reach neighbors and families who need them during the holiday season. Volunteer as an individual or sign up as a corporate group!
Donate a Meal
Provide meals to neighbors in need this holiday season. A donation through our online giving page will provide food and resources to our community throughout the holiday season.
Host Your Own Food Drive
Turn your workplace, school, organization, or community into a collection site. Host a food drive and collect essential non-perishable items to stock the shelves of Long Island Cares and its network of partner agencies.
Shop Our Holiday List
Have food you’d like to give? Bring your collected items to a designated Long Island Cares drop-off location so they can be distributed to neighbors through our network of community partners.
