Cats In The Cradle Contest Rules & Guidelines

1) ELIGIBILITY
• The contest is open to songwriters who are 14 years of age or older on the date of song submission. Any entrant who is a minor in his or her jurisdiction of legal residence will be required to obtain and submit written permission from his or her parent or legal guardian to participate in the contest.
• For the purposes of the competition, a song must have both lyrics and music.
• Artists from Nassau and Suffolk Counties in New York are eligible to enter, and winners in each category must provide proof of residency in Nassau or Suffolk County. Winners will have the opportunity to perform live at one of the following venues.

2) SUBMISSION POLICY
Each entry must be an unpublished/non-copyrighted audio or video recording covering "Cats In The Cradle," made explicitly for this competition. Contestants must retain the copyright and authority to submit and perform their entry in the contest. Long Island Cares is not responsible and disclaims any liability for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, or misappropriated entries or for any errors in online submissions, including, but not limited to unsuccessful file uploads. Materials submitted will not be returned and Long Island Cares reserves the right to dispose of all submitted material in any manner.

4) FINALIST AND WINNER SELECTION
Winner:
A total of one (1) winner from each category will be selected to perform in a live venue.
The winners will be selected from their mp3 audio submissions by members of the Chapin Family.

5) PRIZES
One winner from each category will receive a featured performance slot at one of these venues:
• Just Wild About Harry Tribute Concert at the Rainbow Stage in Huntington, NY on July 21st
• Will Sing For Food Vineyard Jam at Clovis Point Vineyards on August 3rd
• Summer Jam presented by the D’Addario Group on August 15th (location TBD)

The winner from each category will also receive social media recognition on all Long Island Cares channels, be featured on the Long Island Cares YouTube channel, receive a Cats In the Cradle Poster signed by Sandy Chapin, and four complimentary tickets to their performance venue.

6) NOTIFICATIONS & WAIVERS
Selected winners will be announced on the Long Island Cares Social Media platforms and notified individually by email.
Each winner must meet and/or provide the following items to be eligible to enter the contest and perform live.
• The winner in each category must meet all contest eligibility requirements
• if under 18, at the time of submission a written permission from his or her parent or legal guardian to enter the contest and perform live at one of the listed venues.
• The winner in each category confirms that his or her composition is unpublished/non-copyrighted audio or video recording covering Cats In The Cradle, made explicitly for this competition.

Each contestant’s submission constitutes his or her permission to use his or her name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional consideration.
Long Island Cares retains the exclusive right to use in perpetuity any media inclusive of ancillary rights created in conjunction with Long Island Cares including but not limited to; live recordings, video, webisodes, and photographs. Participants grant Long Island Cares the use of this archival material in perpetuity.

7) RESTRICTIONS
This contest is void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules, and ordinances apply.
• Entries must be unpublished/non-copyrighted audio or video recording covering Cats In The Cradle, made explicitly for this competition.
• Submissions are subject to a time limit of three (3) minutes.
• The song MUST be performed by the song contest entrant. Songs that have been recorded with more than one backing musician can be submitted — for example, sending in a cut from a CD with multiple players. But remember, if you are selected as a winner, you will only be allowed one backing musician on stage. This accompanist may play one or more instruments.
