Long Island’s Regional Food Bank is Prepared for Hurricane Joaquin
Long Island Cares, the regional food bank of Long Island, is monitoring the path of Hurricane Joaquin, and we are prepared to assist those organizations that might have to respond to this weather event should it impact Long Island. We have been in communication with the USDA if there is a need for us to provide emergency food from our inventory of TEFAP commodities, and we’re confident that if needed the NYS Department of Health will approve the distribution of emergency food to those in need from our HPNAP inventory. In addition, we have sufficient inventory of ready-to-eat foods, snacks, water and other beverages available to distribute if requested. Several members of our leadership team and Emergency Response and Recovery Services staff will be available 24/7 during the weekend. If you require our assistance, please contact Peter Braglia, Chief Operations Officer at 631-836-1831.
