HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK, October 19, 2018 – Long Island Cares and National Grid have launched a new initiative to help fight hunger on Long Island and encourage paperless billing. For every individual who enrolls in paperless billing, National Grid will donate $1 to Long Island Cares. The campaign runs from October 20 through December 20, 2018. To enroll, visit ngrid.com/longislandcares.
“We’re thrilled that National Grid has joined Long Island Cares in the fight against hunger,” said Paule T. Pachter, CEO of Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank. “As we strive to create a hunger-free Long Island, ever mindful that the holidays can be very difficult for families in need, we are grateful for this new initiative and encourage the public to take part.”
When consumers enroll in paperless billing through National Grid, their bills will be delivered via email. It’s a secure and convenient way to pay online and access past statements – anytime, anywhere – using a computer or smartphone. Automatic, ongoing payments can be easily scheduled. Paperless billing allows you to say goodbye to misplaced bills and clutter and hello to peace of mind.
Long Island Cares plans to use proceeds from the initiative to help provide food for the more than 272,000 people on Long Island who receive emergency food each year, as well as to continue educating the public about causes and consequences of hunger.
“National Grid is proud to support Long Island Cares in its mission to end hunger,” said Paul Cantello, National Grid’s Director of Brand Management and Corporate Citizenship. “As your local energy company, we don’t just work in your community, we are part of it. That’s why we’re so pleased to make a donation to Long Island Cares, to help provide food to families in need. Plus, by encouraging our customers to enroll in paperless billing, we can make a positive impact on our environment.”
