HAUPPAUGE – Once again, talented folk and rock musicians from throughout Long Island are preparing to take to the stage in East Meadow this July to pay tribute to the late singer, Grammy Award winning songwriter, social activist and Long Island Cares founder Harry Chapin.
This year’s Just Wild About Harry Tribute Concert will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 7:30 P.M. at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park, located in East Meadow NY. Concert goers are once again asked to bring a donation of non-perishable food to support Long Island Cares, Inc, the regional food bank Chapin founded in 1980.
Attendees are encouraged to visit Long Island Cares’ tent at the concert to purchase several of Harry’s CDs, limited edition t-shirts, copies of the 2011 concert recording, and other merchandise, or pick up information about the regional food bank’s programs, services and special events.
The lineup of musicians and performers set to appear on July 27 includes concert organizer and host Stuart Markus and his band Gathering Time, as well as Josh Joffen, Frank Walker, Rorie Kelly, Katie Pearlman, Patricia Shih, Jackknife Stiletto, Media Crime, Ed Ryan, Jerry DeMeo, Christine Solimeno, Sid Cherry, Robin Eve, Grand Folk Railroad, the Folk Goddesses, and Debra Lynne.
“This is a wonderful event that all of us at Long Island Cares are always excited to participate in. The public responds very generously with donations of food and all of the artists offer wonderful renditions of Harry’s material. We are very grateful to Stuart Markus for his ongoing passion in producing this concert each year to benefit our organization,” said CEO Paule Pachter.
