FEEDING AMERICA TAPS PACHTER FOR 'TED TALKS' PRESENTATION AT NATIONAL FTHR CONFERENCE IN OCTOBER

Long Island Cares CEO Paule Pachter has been invited by Feeding America to be one of the featured speakers at their annual Finance, Technology and Human Resources Conference in New Orleans on October 13, 2015. Pachter will be delivering a ‘Ted Talks’ style presentation called “Increasing Capacity & Awareness Through a Community-Based Satellite Approach” to representatives from the 200 nationwide food banks in the Feeding America member network.
Feeding America has identified Pachter as one of the current visionaries within the food banking industry for Long Island Cares’ development of its community-based satellite programs in Freeport, Lindenhurst and Huntington Station.  The satellite programs have brought the regional food bank closer to people in need and expanded upon the types of services a food bank can provide to assist individuals and families struggling with food insecurity.
“I’m honored that Feeding America has invited me to share our satellite model with other food banks across the country,” said Pachter. “Our focus on hunger and food insecurity has been on the root causes and needs of people as opposed to just focusing on increasing the total pounds of food that we deliver. We believe that it’s critical for food banks to serve people directly in addition to working with local pantries, soup kitchens and other organizations to provide emergency food. Our satellite programs have enabled us to develop a network of direct services to meet the needs of at-risk populations and to expand our reputation as a more humanitarian type of organization, which is what Harry Chapin believed in. It also supports Feeding America’s new focus on reaching out to people directly and to offer additional support services as part of their 2025 goal and their collaborating with clients initiative.”
