Culinary Collaboration and Charity Come Together to Celebrate Tellers Anniversary

August 19, 2019

Tellers, An American Chophouse, announces the inaugural Chefs Against Hunger series, in honor of its 20th Anniversary.

Chefs Against Hunger is a collaboration of some of Long Island’s most well-known culinary talent working together to support the local food-insecure community through a series of intimate chef experiences.
The charity series was created to honor Tellers commitment to culinary excellence and the Bohlsen Groups continued support of the Long Island community. Likewise, the Bohlsen Foundation will be donating proceeds from each event to Long Island Cares. Long Island Cares is the largest regional food bank on Long Island, and one of the most diverse hunger relief organizations in the country, serving over 259,000 a year.

“Long Island’s culinary landscape has changed quite a bit since we opened Tellers 20 years ago.  Today, we are rife with great talent and restaurants tout wonderful expressions of Long Island’s bounty.” Says Co-Owner Michael Bohlsen.

“While we are all ostensibly competitors in the same business, we are also aware that this rising tide lifts all of our ships.  Therefore, we thought the best way to celebrate how far the food scene on Long Island has come over these 20 years was to bring together some of our best and brightest and use these efforts to help eradicate hunger for some of the less fortunate on the Island”  continues Michael Bohlsen.
“We are extremely grateful to The Bohlsen Restaurant Group and all of the wonderful guest Chefs that will work their culinary magic at Tellers as part of this special event to support Long Island Cares mission to solve hunger on Long Island” adds Paule Patcher, CEO, Long Island Cares.
Chefs Against Hunger is comprised of some of Long Islands most innovative Chefs; including Tom Schaudel, Claudia Fleming + Brian Wilson, Peter Van Der Mije, Michael Meehan, Tom Gloster and Noah Schwartz; all well known in their own regard for their dedication to their community, who will come together for the intimate dinners to be held at Tellers from September-November.
Chefs will create a one-night only, 4 course paired menu at Tellers, presenting their take on classic American dishes. The menus will feature locally sourced food and include pairings with Long Island wine, beer or spirits.  Chefs can also choose to partner with a specific local Vineyard or vendor for their evening.
Each event is an intimate celebration, starting with a 1-hr meet and greet over cocktails with the Chef in the Boardroom at Tellers. Seated dinners are narrated by the Chef and staff.
Cocktails begin at 6:30. Seating begins at 7:30. Held on Mondays throughout the fall, tickets are $175.00 per person and are available through Eventbrite, or the Tellers website.
