May 10, 2018

HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK, May 10, 2018 – Selecting fresh foods and preparing healthy meals need not be expensive endeavors, as Chef Alan Gotay demonstrated on April 26 in the DDBR Kitchen Studio at Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
Gotay, the chef of BabaluNY, a Cuban-Mediterranean restaurant in Huntington, NY, offered a cooking demonstration as part of “Long Island Chefs Fighting Hunger.”
Nearly 50 people representing food pantries, soup kitchen and other emergency food programs attended the free workshop, in which Gotay showed attendees how to use and incorporate inexpensive fresh foods frequently donated through food drives, turning them into delicious and healthy meals.  Those in attendance from Long Island Cares’ member agencies received credit for completion of a Nutrition Workshop.
