Paws Up! Baxter’s Food Pantry from LI Cares Receives Donation from Suffolk Federal During Their All-American Pet Paw-Rade & Adoption Celebration
Following its wildly successful and spectacular All American Pet Paw-Rade & Adoption Celebration, Suffolk Federal “paid it forward” to those who participated in the event which encouraged pet adoption and built awareness for the efforts of local animal rescue and welfare groups.
Baxter’s Food Pantry from LI Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank was one of several animal welfare organizations who participated in the fun-filled event which included an exciting “Paw-Rade” that attracted spectators who lined up to watch four-legged models strut down the “catwalk” to show off their “All American” themed patriotic outfits. But, this event wasn’t just limited to canines walking the catwalk, ferrets and even a fish were all about the red, white and blue. Spectator kittens watched from the sidelines while the “Pupparrazzi” made sure to get in on the action. And every furry and finned fashionista went home with a Celebrity Swag Bag designed by Suffolk Federal and filled with an abundance of fun gifts and surprises.
Suffolk Federal capped off the first-ever event with a generous donation of food and pet supplies which were collected and donated to Baxter’s Food Pantry at Long Island Cares – the Harry Chapin Food Bank. The donation will provide support to family pets in need through their network. In addition to the food and pet supply donation, Suffolk Federal also donated over $3,000 to the local animal rescue and welfare charities who were in attendance to support their work and their missions.
In addition, one of the highlights of the day’s event was the fact that many animals found new homes following their freedom strut including Dory the Fish who was adopted by a young boy who traveled all the way from Massachusetts for the free outing. Reef Scape Aquatics of Huntington even provided a take-home aquarium for Dory’s new adventure.
In addition to the Pet “Paw-rade” the day included an array of fun-filled activities for families and pets alike including:
- Free BBQ Luncheon, Refreshments and Ice Cream for Guests
- Live Music with DJ
- “Crack the Safe” and Raffle Prizes for Furry Family Members
- Face Painting
- PetPlan® Pet Insurance Information
“Being able to give back and support the mission of the organizations who provide a much needed and vital service for our pets and rescues is such an important part of the Suffolk Federal mission to support the community. Pets are not only an important part of our communities, but also, our families. We are also happy that as a result of this event we could help so many pets find their new ‘Best Friends’ and a new home,” explained Ralph D. Spencer, Jr., President & CEO of Suffolk Federal.
The All-American Pet Paw-Rade & Adoption Celebration was created by Suffolk Federal to encourage pet adoption and build awareness for the efforts of local rescue and welfare groups to protect animals while promoting humane treatment, offering education for responsible animal ownership and care and providing crisis programs for animals in need.
