Minnesauke Elementary Student Collects Over 100 Coats For Long Island Cares

December 21, 2017

Long Island Cares would like to extend our gratitude to a student from Minnesauke Elementary. The 2nd grade class at Minnesauke Elementary held a coat drive this holiday season to raise donations for warm coats. However, Holden Cone went one step farther for the season of giving.
His mother told us the school was only collecting children’s coats, but Holden wanted to collect for everybody. So Holden made flyers and put them in 101 mailboxes in their neighborhood. He spoke with students at the local high school where both his parents work and he collected coats from the students and faculty there too. In total, the Cone family collected more than 100 coats, which were donated to Long Island Cares yesterday and will later be redistributed to families in need.
