Last week Long Island Cares had a special visit from a local girl scout troop. The girls of troop 1655 came into the Huntington Station pantry, which services veterans and families who come from the North Shore of Long Island. They learned about how a pantry operates, who can come to the pantry (answer: everybody), and what our clients can receive from a pantry. Then then met Asparagus the Dragon, he’s our official Long Island Cares mascot and stocked the pantry shelves. If you are interested in visiting a pantry or having your children volunteer with Long Island Cares, please contact our volunteer coordinator and take part in serving the needy on Long Island.
