The Walmart located in Valley Stream recently made a large donation of new clothing to Long Island Cares, Inc.-The Harry Chapin Food Bank. Two full pallets – almost 1,200 pounds- of new underwear, socks and pajamas for adults and children arrived at Long Island Cares’ warehouse in Hauppauge just in time for the holiday season.
Long Island Cares Director of Operations, Peter Braglia was thrilled with the donation, which arrived unexpectedly. “Walmart is a dedicated donor to Long Island Cares and we especially enjoy a wonderful relationship with the Valley Stream location. We always remind our corporate partners that we are more than just food so we were very gratified when this donation arrived. They are listening.”
The clothing will be sorted, boxed and distributed through Long Island Cares’ 590 member agencies located throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
