We want to acknowledge our friends at Temple Beth Chai of Hauppauge, whose commitment to hunger relief humbled us this week.
Not ONLY did the members of Temple Beth Chai collect over 2,000 cans of tuna for us at their recent food drive, but once the donation was delivered to LIC, the Temple’s youth groups spent over a month going through every single can to confirm none of the tuna was part of Bumble Bee’s recent recall! When staff offered to ask volunteers to assist with the recall check, the kids declined, handling the whole project themselves.
Thank you all for working so hard to help us provide safe, healthy food for the 316,000 Long Islanders in need.
