Long Island Cares Rolls Out New Veterans Project Mobile Outreach Unit

To celebrate Veteran’s Day, this morning at 10:00 AM Congressman Tim Bishop, Suffolk County Legislator John Kennedy and other dignitaries will be joining Long Island Cares in Hauppauge to officially roll out our new Veterans Project Mobile …Outreach Unit. Our newest mobile outreach program will be working collaboratively with several local veterans organizations to provide emergency food, household supplies, personal care products, pet food, information and referral services, and other support services for our veterans, military personnel and their families in Nassau and Suffolk counties.  Our Veterans Project has been operational since 2010, and includes our Mobile Pantry, Military Appreciation Tuesday’s at all three locations in Hauppauge, Freeport and Lindenhurst, and providing professional consultation to assist veterans and their families with additional resources that they might not be familiar with.  The new Veterans Project Mobile Outreach Unit was funded by a generous private grant from The George and Joyce Klett Family.  For more information, contact Michael Haynes, Coordinator of Government Affairs and Veterans Services at: [email protected]
