Long Island Cares Holds 7th Annual Legislative Pet Food Drive

January 26, 2018

Did you know Long Island Cares has a Pet Pantry?

Often, it’s easy to forget that when families go hungry, their pets often go hungry too. Sometimes, pet owners are forced to give up a beloved pet because they no longer have the funds to feed them. We’re trying to prevent this from happening. Long Island Cares started Baxter’s Pet Pantry in 2009 and has since distributed over one million pounds of pet food, all of which has been donated through pet food drives and corporate donations.
The 7th Annual Legislative Pet Food Drive comes together again to bring in another level of donors, calling on local elected officials to gather vital pet food donations for struggling Nassau and Suffolk County families.

Here are some of the most needed pet food items:

  • 5 or 10 pounds bags of dog and cat food (larger bags are always accepted)
  • Canned dog and cat food
  • Kitty litter
  • Treats
  • NEW Toys
  • Food for ALL PETS – including but not limited to reptiles, fish, ferrets, and hamsters!

IMPORTANT HEALTH INFORMATION

All pet food must be unopened and in its original packaging. No opened bags, ripped bags, or loose pet food will be accepted. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience.
