We are pleased to announce that our mascot, AsparaGus the Dragon, has joined the Twittosphere.  As you may know, AsparaGus has joined Long Island Cares to assist us in helping children relate to the reality and prevalence of hunger, especially among other children, and to give them the tools they need to help fight it.
AsparaGus will chronicle his adventures spreading hunger awareness across Long Island with the hashtag #slayinghunger, and promote the benefits and accessibility of nutrition for kids and families.
“Usually dragons are the ones being slain,” says AsparaGus, “but I’m one of the good guys, and I’m here to help Long Island Cares train heroes to battle hunger.  Hunger is a real evil, and real evils take a lot of courage, hard work, and teamwork to conquer – but I know we can do it together. I’m too shy to talk in front of people, so I’m very excited to talk to them on Twitter about what they are doing or can do to slay hunger on Long Island!”
To keep up with his adventures or join his team of hunger slayers, simply follow @AsparaGusLIC on Twitter.
