The Endowment Fund of Long Island Cares is vital to our ability to continue to provide emergency food, programs and services to our neighbors in need. One of Long Island’s most comprehensive hunger relief charities, we are focused on building and nurturing our Endowment Fund to provide fiscal stability so we may continue to carry out Harry Chapin’s mission, regardless of what the future may bring.
Why do we need an endowment fund?
• An endowment fund is a permanent, steady and secure source of income. This is vitally important to charitable, nonprofit organizations in uncertain economic times.
• Establishing an endowment is like planting the seed of future organization growth.
• An endowment fund tells the community that an organization is building for the future and intends to serve the community for many years to come.
• Endowments are an attractive option to donors, particularly those who wish to make large gifts or leave a gift by bequest, since their donation is maintained in perpetuity and not expended for short-term operating costs.
Any contributions you can make toward Long Island Cares’ Endowment Fund will help build and secure our future. It’s simple: Donate online now and enter “Endowment Fund” as the designation of your gift and please accept, in advance, our thanks.
Long Island Cares, Inc. sponsors numerous special events and initiatives that directly support our Endowment Fund. Our Beat an End to Hunger initiative provides donors with the opportunity to purchase beautifully framed drumheads that have been autographed by many musicians, performers and artists that support our organization and mission. Among the artists that have signed drumheads that have already been purchased for a specified donation are: Billy Joel; Carrie Underwood; Tony Bennett; Bonnie Raitt; Frankie Valli; Dee Snider; Ringo Starr and many more.
