Opportunities for Youth
At Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, we recognize that the youth of today are our future tomorrow: They are the individuals who will volunteer their time, donate their resources and enable our organization to continue our fight against hunger on Long Island.
We offer a variety of opportunities for youth of all ages to get involved:
- Hunger 101: To Walk in the Shoes of a Person in Need. The principal education component of The Harry Chapin Food Bank, this role-play and discussion activity raises awareness and understanding of hunger and its many causes. To schedule a Hunger 101 workshop, contact Jessica Rosati.
- Kids United Against Hunger. Funded by United Way of Long Island, this joint project enables children in grades 3-8 to volunteer at The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge, NY. For more information or to register, please email Jessica Rosati.
- Student Volunteer Corps. This program introduces students to the mission and operations of Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Food Bank in hopes of generating a new wave of volunteers to assist local pantries in the fight against hunger on Long Island. To join the Student Volunteer Corps, complete and submit this registration form.
