In 2000, Newsday expanded its long-term support of helping those in need on Long Island and partnered with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation to establish Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund. Newsday Charities is committed to helping those less fortunate in our community improve their lives and become self-sufficient. Newsday Charities, has been a major supporter of Long Island Cares since 2001, providing almost $200,000 for our School Tools Program. In 2010 Newsday Charities provided a large seed grant which allowed us to create our School Tools Showroom as part of our First Stop Pantry. In the Showroom children can personally select from a variety of items including backpacks, binders, filler paper, notebooks, calculators and many other new school supplies displayed in a client-choice setting. Newsday continues to support this program annually. We are pound to name Newsday Charities as a Corporate Hero!
