Veterans Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating our efforts at veteran distributions, such as Stand Downs and various community outreach events. This position will also refer veterans in need to various services and benefits.

 Essential Functions:

  • Scheduling distributions throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
  • Ordering products and preparing emergency food/care packages.
  • Distributing food, supplies, and information to food-insecure veterans in various settings.
  • Securing and managing volunteers as needed.
  • Maintaining and developing collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and allied organizations in veteran services.
  • Public speaking as needed.
  • Assessing and referring veteran clients for eligibility for direct and support services, such as mental health, housing, crisis, and employment assistance.
  • Maintaining up-to-date client and accurate files on outreach and referral efforts.
  • Reporting data on a monthly and as-needed basis.
  • Performing other veteran outreach duties as assigned by the VP for Government Relations & Advocacy.

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related experience.
  • Veteran status preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
