Program Associate

Location: Hauppauge, NY

Reports to: VP for Programs & Community Services

FLSA Classification: Nonexempt

Status: Part-Time 30 Hours per week

Salary Range: $21.00/hour

Job Summary: The Program Associate is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of our Satellite Program Centers in Bethpage, Freeport, Hampton Bays, Huntington Station, Lindenhurst and Valley Stream, plus supporting Mobile Programs throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Schedule will vary depending on the program supported. This is a Part-time position of 30 hours per week (some evenings and weekends).

Essential Functions:

· Satellites: Perform client needs assessment related to food necessity, emergency relief, and other circumstances requiring the assistance of the food bank. Record and track client visits and pantry usage. Perform various clerical duties, including ordering food, as needed.

· Mobile Programs:

o Perform various clerical duties, e.g., correspondence, scheduling, maintaining program records, updating program materials, typing, filing, etc.

o Order nutritious foods for each program.

o Coordinate the preparation of emergency food packages.

o Help prepare emergency food packages for distributions.

o Schedule visits/distributions throughout various locations.

o Loading, driving, and distributing pre-packaged food bags as scheduled.

· Maintain community resource lists/referrals utilized in all programs.

· Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the Vice President of Programs.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Fluent in Spanish and English.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.

· Relative work experience in office operations, non-for-profit, or human services preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

· Valid and clean NYS driver’s license.
