Grants Specialist

Job description

Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Chief Development & Communications Officer (CDCO), the Grants Specialist will provide coordination of the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive grants program.  Responsible for all aspects of raising support from foundations, corporations, and government sources requiring researching opportunities, writing, and submission of full grant proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects.  Implements communication strategies to cultivate and engage past and current donors to deepen their relationship with Long Island Cares resulting in increased contributions and giving opportunities.

Office in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY headquarters.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college in related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in grant writing
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
  • Proficient in database management and Microsoft Office
  • Possess superior communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Work weekends, evenings, and early mornings as necessary
  • Local, regional and national travel as necessary.  Driver license required
  • Position is highly sensitive and requires impeccable personal and professional integrity and discretion
  • COVID vaccination required.
