Development Content Specialist

Development Content Specialist – Part Time, 24 hrs/wk

Under the supervision of the Chief Development & Communications Officer, the Development Content Specialist will be a copywriter/writer who is a natural storyteller and brand thinker with expertise in communications and print/digital marketing.  Will produce written content for blogs, website, and newsletters, including first-person interviews with donors, volunteers, staff and other constituents.  Create content (stories, whitepapers, email, social media, and interactive pieces) that aligns with brand and connects to marketing campaigns to create compelling content that gets noticed and increases event participation, corporate revenue growth, community awareness and volunteer engagement.  Collaborates with Development and Communications team to develop content for social platforms and digital ads and ensure consistency with theme, brand and design guidelines.


  • 2-4 years of writing experience at a strong brand, agency or influential publication.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience with creative development, must include a portfolio of work.
  • Experience with social platforms, digital media, PR, newsletters, reporting, press materials and advertising.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects with excellent prioritization and communication skills.
  • Previous relational database experience (preferred).
  • Previous nonprofit fundraising experience (plus).
  • Working weekends, evenings, and early mornings will be required as necessary.
  • Local, and regional travel required.  Driver license required.
