Lindenhurst to Dedicate Hurricane Sandy Volunteer Monument
“On October 29, 2012, Superstorm Sandy brought unparalleled damage and havoc to many of us across Long Island, in particular the residential communities of the Great South Bay. Immediately afterwards, hundreds upon hundreds of volunteers joined together to help, in big and small ways, their neighbors start the process of recovery and rebuilding.” – Thomas Brennan, Mayor, Incorporated Village of Lindenhurst.
Mayor Brennan also states that, “Nearly one year after Sandy, we have demonstrated how resilient and determined a community can be through our rebuilding efforts. None of this could have happened without the volunteers who sacrificed their time, talent and personal resources to help others in need.”
To commemorate the one year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, Mayor Thomas Brennan is inviting you to join him, Deputy Mayor Kevin McCaffrey, and Trustees Michael Lovarata, Joan M. Masterson, and Maryann Weckerle in the formal dedication of a monument to these volunteers. The event will be on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Shore Road Park in Lindenhurst.
