Michelle's Food Drive

Michelle needed a cause to help for her Bat Mitzvah project.  We are very pleased and honored that she chose us as her charity.

Michelle organized a community food drive in her hometown of Huntington and raised 633 pounds of food!  Oh, and $5 which will help purchase another 7lbs.  That helps too!

Many thanks to Michelle (and a nod to her father Lee, whose car we suspect will never be the same) for a job well done.  Read Michelle's letter to the right, then click on the pictures below for a larger view.  Whether the car roof was used to carry donated food is unknown.

How To Help Your Community !!!

Dear Fellow Neighbor,

This letter is to ask you for your help with my Bat Mitzvah project!  Since you are reading this letter you are among the more fortunate people in the world because you have a home and food to eat.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in our local community who can’t afford a home to live in or food to eat.

For my project I am gathering food and giving it to a local charity, Long Island Cares!  I really hope you help by participating because you will not only be helping me, but also helping fellow members of our community that are less fortunate than you and me.

Helping people also gives you a good feeling saying “I really did a good thing!”  So please help by filling this bag with as many NON-PERISHABLE food items as possible and return the bag to my house at [address removed] in Huntington.  There will be a bin on the side of the house, next to the garage.  Or contact me at 631-[number removed].  Thank you for taking the time to read this notice & help me to help others.  The drive will be from 5/5 – 5/26.

From someone who cares
