LONG ISLAND CARES NAMED 2009 MVP NONPROFIT CORPORATION BY LONG ISLAND MAGAZINE

Long Island Magazine
Long Island Magazine has selected Long Island Cares, Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank as their 2009 MVP award winner in the Not-For-Profit category. Long Island Magazine is published monthly by the Long Island Association and Long Island Business News and is circulated widely throughout the region's corporate community.

The Long Island Magazine MVP awards are presented annually to Long Island-based businesses that show leadership in local community service and display clear signs of growth and expansion.

Paule Pachter, Executive Director of Long Island Cares shared his feelings about the good news. "I'm extremely proud that Long Island Cares has been selected to receive this award. It's a testament to the incredible staff and volunteers that help us to do what we do every day. This has been a challenging year for food banks across the country that are distributing food to record numbers of families in need. Long Island Cares has seen significant growth in both our program and development areas this year and we have expanded our services to include our own emergency food pantry, a new school supplies showroom, targeted food distibutiion program, pet pantry and our new Mobile Pantry services. I know how proud our Board of Directors and staff are to receive this recognition from the Long Island Association and Long Island Business News."

The award will be presented at a special reception prior to the LIA's Fall Luncheon on September 25 at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
