JOB TRAINING

Part of Long Island Cares’ mission is to sponsor and promote programs through our Community Outreach Department that provide individuals with the tools and skills needed to become self-sufficient.  The Job Training Program focuses on at-risk young adults and the need for job skills that will help them to succeed in today’s job market.  By offering a training program utilizing both the warehouse and offices at Long Island Cares, participants are given comprehensive, on-the-job training and are exposed to the possibility of new career opportunities.

Program Goals:

To provide job training in the fundamentals of warehousing.

To teach office technology skills.

To enhance basic vocational skills.

To build self-esteem and increase confidence.

To help develop a positive attitude towards work.

Program Description:

Opportunity to rotate through several different departments.

Focus on warehousing, clerical, and vocational skills.

Group discussions and hands-on-training at the food bank.

Participants complete professional resumes and are provided with job search assistance at the end of the program.
